The products that the Swiss food industry is presenting at Anuga are natural, delicious and of high quality. Altogether 64 Swiss exhibitors are presenting a wealth of hugely varied culinary delights. Both pavilions are organised by Osec in cooperation with Switzerland Cheese Marketing.
Chocolate and cheese may well be among the first of Switzerland's top exports to come to mind, but the range of quality products supplied by Swiss food producers is much wider than that, as appreciative connoisseurs around the world know only too well. Mueslis, preserves, teas, soups, sauces and beverages – they all stand out as quality products renowned for their natural raw materials and exquisite taste. No surprise then that the export of processed agricultural products has practically doubled in the past five years. In 2010, the member companies of the Federation of Swiss Food Industries (fial) once again increased their export sales - by CHF 3 118 million, i.e. by 17 per cent in comparison with the previous year. The sectors enjoying the greatest increases in terms of value were infant and toddler foods, confectionery, soluble coffee and chocolate and cheese spreads/ready-made fondues. Figures released by fial show that last year Swiss food industries notched up total sales of CHF 18 403 million.
