Stellen Fine Wines' exciting new cider, Tell's, is set to take on the big boys in the South African cider market.
The six per cent ABV off-dry thirst-quencher is named after William Tell, the expert marksman of Swiss legend who shot an apple off his son's head with a crossbow, to save them both from execution at the hands of an Austrian tyrant whose hat they had refused to bow to.

The South African National Bottled Water Association (SANBWA) is putting its members' commitment to high standards and good environmental stewardship under the microscope during January and February, this year.
All bottlers seeking membership of the association are required to subscribe to SANBWA's stringent standards and commit to critical environmental stewardship initiatives as well as submit to a third party audit once a year, to ensure compliance. Most of the audits for the year ending February 2012 will be completed during the first two months of the year.
According to SANBWA chairman, John Weaver, membership of SANBWA is voluntary but strictly controlled and comprises of bottlers of all classes of bottled water (ie natural, defined by origin and prepared waters) whose primary concern is the health and safety of their consumers.

All aspirant winemakers participating in the Cape Winemakers Guild Protégé Programme have been given the rare opportunity of making their own wines in their own dedicated Quintessence French oak barrels, donated by the Cape Cooperage Group. This Paarl based company has extended its support of the Guild's Protégé Programme by donating a barrel to every winemaker in his or her second year, until 2014, ensuring that current and future winemakers will have the opportunity to experiment with their own wines.
'We are proud to be a partner in the Guild's Protégé Programme by helping these young winemakers fulfil their potential. We'd like to believe that this initiative will help to transform the wine industry one barrel at a time,' said André Kotze, managing director of the Cape Cooperage Group.
