Three Ships Bourbon Cask Finish whisky is one of its kind: a 100% South African blend and the country’s first whisky consisting of both malt and grain components distilled and matured here.
It was originally launched in 2005 and has since become known for its distinctive taste and achievements at some of the world’s top international competitions, including the annual World Whisky Awards hosted by Whisky Magazine and the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).
‘Considering the relatively short time the whisky spends in the bourbon casks, we’re amazed by just how much flavour gets extracted,’ says master distiller Andy Watts. After an initial maturation of three years the final blend is matured for a further six months in first-fill bourbon casks, rounding off the whisky’s golden hue and unique palate.
Three Ships Bourbon Cask Finish is available from leading liquor outlets with or without a gift-tin for around R115.
