Danisco SA launches its Innovation Centre in Cape Town

Danisco, internationally recognised ingredients manufacturer, launched its South African Innovation Centre, on the 28 March, in Cape Town.

The premises is home to the first UHT pilot plant being made available in Sub-Saharan Africa to the food industry. It is also in possession of the only Matcon blending system being used in the food industry in Africa.

The opportunities that will be afforded to industry are countless assured Paul Vet, managing director of Danisco SA. ‘We can make any blends in one of the most advanced blending systems in Africa,’ he said.

Product development can take place at the centre and then the research and formulations are applied in industry. ‘The product can be tested at the pilot plant and samples, which won’t go on sale, can be made there,’ said Vet.

The Danisco Innovation Centre, in Cape Town, will be working very closely with innovation centres around the world and also works closely with several universities globally, including the University of the Western Cape and Stellenbosch University.
