Caremoli Group, headquartered in Milan, Italy with factories in Italy, India and the USA, is continuing its success in the food industry by setting up Caremoli Deutschland in Blankenhain, Germany. Originally a sales office, Caremoli Deutschland will now be responsible for the marketing and later the production of a number of their product groups. Of the nine already successful products to be marketed and produced at the new Blankenhain site, it was announced at the FiE 2009 that the revolutionary CareGrain line would be expanding, to now include the ingredient of pre-cooked, whole Sustagrain kernels. An ingredient from the US-based ConAgra Mills, it offers the highest fiber content of any commercially available wholegrain. A full 40 percent of this fiber is present as beta-glucan, which makes Sustagrain a powerful ingredient in maintaining heart health.

Having a reputation for recognizing market trends in advance, Caremoli with the help of ConAgra, developed precooked whole Sustagrain Kernels through a thermalphysical treatment. The technology maintains the quality, enhances the sensory properties and adds preparation convenience to this unique wholegrain. Customers are able to customize the amount of pre-cooking required for the finished wholegrain ingredient depending on their final application, from topical baking and confectionary inclusions, quick-cooking meals, side dishes and salads to ready-to-eat health bars, snacks and soups.
