SA wins dairy event

South Africa has won the bid to host the World Dairy Summit in 2012.

The event, which is recognised as one of the world’s premier events on the international dairy calendar, will take place at the convention centre in Cape Town from 3 - 9 November.

It represents the most extensive gathering of dairy specialists and those working in dairy-related fields.

The bid came from the South African National Committee of the International Dairy Federation, which represents 56 countries with the number growing.

The IDF aims to represent the dairy sector worldwide, providing the best and most up-to-date source of scientific expertise and knowledge.

More than 1 000 delegates are expected at the event, representing more than 50 countries.

This year’s World Dairy Summit takes place in Auckland, New Zealand, 8 - 11 November.
