Monday 23 August will consist of a full day of plenary sessions made up of renowned speakers as well as presentations by outstanding young scientists chosen from worldwide submissions.
The final morning session to be held on Thursday 26 August will follow the same pattern. At the time of writing the article, selection of young scientists was still in process but some of the plenary speakers details, plus titles, are as follows: David Schmidt - President & CEO of the International Food Information Council (IFIC): Issues New and Retro - What is Driving Global Food and Health Trends; Einar Risvik - Acting Managing Director & Research Director, Nofima Food, Norway: Better tools for value segmentation in open innovation; Thomas Ohlsson - Professor Emeritus, SIK - The Swedish Food Institute, Gothenburg, Sweden: Sustainable Food Production - Today and in the Future; and Eric Windhab - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Institute of Food, Nutrition, and Health, Zurich, Switzerland: Latest advances and future perspectives for ‘Radical Innovation’ in Food Science & Technology.
On Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 August there are five or six parallel sessions held throughout the two days. Every effort is being made to ensure that speaker times are properly co-ordinated so that delegates can switch from one session to another without disrupting proceedings. Each of the parallels is broken into four sessions each day - two in the morning and two in the afternoon - and each session has four speakers. Most of the topics are covered in one session but some of the topics span two sessions.
It is obviously impossible to cover all the speakers and titles in all the parallel sessions in this brief article but visit the website www.iufost2010.org.za for comprehensive details. Over and above the oral presentations there will be an enormous number of posters on display for delegate viewing. It is envisages that there will be 350 posters per day for the first three days of the congress - with so many topics covered, there have to be many of interest to each and every delegate attending the congress. There is still plenty of time to register as a delegate for IUFoST 2010 and all the details for on line registration can be found on the website. You cannot afford to miss this one!
