SAAFoST breakfast and lecture

Guest speaker and author André de Villiers, also known as André Gadfly, spoke on the Forces of Change in the South African Food Industry.

The turnout was more than expected, with early birds attending from all over Johannesburg, including a couple of students, who woke up unusually early to attend the event.

De Villiers, Emeritus Professor, graduated with a BSc Chemistry degree from the University of Pretoria in 1964. Last year he published Tinture: Passing the buck and bucking the system, along with colleague Peter Smackers It is a book that covers two journeys taking place in South Africa. These expeditions are set both in the past and present state of SA, and the characters experience the effects of the times.

The lecture, I am sure, inspired much thought. To read more, look out for the regular SAAFoST article in the March issue of Food Review.
