ALPLA acquires Boxmore Packaging

Len Engelbrecht, Günther Lehner and Christoph RiedlspergerPlastic packaging provider, ALPLA recently acquired Boxmore Packaging (Boxmore). The company, a specialist in PET pre-forms, PET bottles and closures, is headquartered in Samrand, Johannesburg. It currently employs around 1 000 staff across nine locations. ‘The African continent is an attractive growth market for us. With the purchase of Boxmore, we now also have a broad basis for entering the market in South Africa, in addition to our activities with ALPLA TABA in North Africa,’ says Günther Lehner ALPLA CEO. Although all locations will be taken over by ALPLA, the management structure will remain the same.

The current board, under the leadership of Len Engelbrech Boxmore CEO, will continue to manage the existing business. Additionally, Boxmore will take on responsibility for the integration and management of the existing ALPLA SA business.

The company will further continue to operate under its existing name but as a member of the ALPLA Group.

The takeover was signed on 5 July. Implementation remains subject to the required legal and regulatory approval by the competition authorities. Contract parties have reached a confidentiality agreement regarding the financial details.
