February will be based at the association’s offices in Stellenbosch, Cape Town. She is responsible for providing administrative support and managing queries from collectors and coordinators. She will also oversee the logistical process of getting the polystyrene collected to recyclers based around the country.

Having worked in recruitment and the hospitality industry before joining the association, February is no stranger to administration and office management.

‘I am grateful and excited about this amazing opportunity. Although it is a completely new and different environment for me, I find it interesting. I am looking forward to working with new people and building good relations with everyone involved,’ she says.

The project, first started by Mary Honeybun – a pensioner from Noordhoek – encourages South Africans to collect breadtags. These plastic closures, made from high density polystyrene, are used to ‘purchase’ wheelchairs for people who are unable to afford but need them
