Dairy Symposium 2018 calls for speakers

The SASDT (South African Society of Dairy Technology) will present its 51st Annual Symposium during April 2018. The theme for the symposium will be “Making a difference with dairy”. The theme is in line with the World Dairy Summit (WDS) theme of 2017 as SASDT feels the need to discuss what is happening on the International Dairy platforms on a local platform as well. The relevance of a global market and the impact of global dairy trends and the impact thereof in South Africa will be one of the main sessions.

Prospective speakers are invited to send a topic and a 200-word abstract of their intended presentation for the symposium to Stephan (info@sasdt.co.za) for processing and approval by the organising panel. Presentations must be theme based and not just an overview of the company’s products and services. Presentations must also be relevant to the topic, as will enhance the quality of the program and give value to the delegates. Feedback from past events is that the content of the speakers was fantastic and scientifically and technologically sound, and added value to the producers and processors in the Dairy Industry.

The two-day long symposium will allow for 18 speakers. Abstracts are to be sent ASAP and reach Stephan by 26 January 2018 for finalisation of the program. A new addition to the program is the replacement of the surprise event with a dairy specific sensory event. During 2017 this was a great success and the council decided to keep this initiative to advance dairy and the sensory aspects related to dairy.
