Local Manufacturing Exhibition 2019 launched

The South African Capital Equipment Export Council (SACEEC) has partnered with Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery to launch the Local Manufacturing Exhibition (LME).

SACEEC hopes to position the exhibition as the definitive event for Gauteng’s leading industry players. It will be a showcase of South Africa’s manufacturing capabilities across a broad range of industry sectors. LME will offer an interactive, educational and practical platform for the best that SA industry has to offer.

The launch of LME came about as a result of a partnership that was recently entered into by SACEEC and the Gauteng Province. The aim of this partnership is to promote the transformation of Gauteng’s manufacturing sector. Originating from the Gauteng Premier’s office, the Gauteng Capital Equipment Transformation Partnership is endorsed by the Premier, David Makhura and the MEC for Economic Development, Lebogang Maile.

The partnership aims to, amongst other objectives, accelerate the rate of transformation in the manufacturing industry through the incorporation of established and emerging black entrepreneurs and industrialists.

Earlier this year, the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) also entered into a partnership with SACEEC to promote transformation in the manufacturing industry in Gauteng.

The GGDA’s key objective is to spearhead economic development efforts for Gauteng by targeting local and international business stakeholders. The GGDA recognises the importance of investment as a driver of job creation, skills development and economic growth.

One of the pillars of the partnership between GGDA and SACEEC is the development of existing and emerging black-owned companies to integrate such businesses into the formal manufacturing sector in Gauteng.

LME will play a key role in facilitating the objectives of these partnerships, to promote local industry sectors to local and international markets, increase competitiveness, provide exposure to international markets and to demonstrate South Africa’s strong manufacturing capabilities and export potential.

The exhibition will be an exciting opportunity to showcase local industry sectors, create mutually beneficial public and private sector partnerships, fast-track economic development and create sustainable investment in the local economy.

SACEEC and Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery are inviting locally-based manufacturers to seize the opportunity to gain maximum exposure for their brands and a significant return on investment through their participation.
