South Africa’s largest dairy producer, Clover, has reported a 3.4 per cent rise in full-year profit, in what the group described as a challenging environment. For the 12 months ended June, revenue increased by 10.7 per cent to R8 billion, and operating profit rose by 5.4 per cent to R391.4 million. The effect of the 2011-12 milk price increases - together with costs relating to fuel, packaging, personnel and product investments – couldn’t be fully recovered through price increases.
