From product developer to retailer, anyone involved in the consumer goods industry needs to understand the consumer fully. On the retail front, for example, Shoprite – Africa’s largest supermarket retailer – has entered into a multi-year contract with Dunnhumby, an international customer science company. Having been selected to apply its customer centricity solutions across Shoprite’s grocery business, Dunnhumby will work closely with the retailer to segment and engage with customers of its grocery retail outlets across Africa – of which there are in excess of 1 000 stores. This will include using Shoprite’s own data to better understand customers and improve the in store experience.
