The world’s food pantry for 2030

Colombia is one of the countries identified by the United Nations Organisation for Food and Agriculture with the greatest agricultural potential in the world. By 2030, the world population will exceed 8.3 billion, with a resultant increase of 50 per cent in food consumption.


According to the Colombian Ministry of Agriculture, Colombia has 114 million hectares of which 44.8 million are earmarked for the agriculture, livestock and reforestation sectors. The agricultural production of Colombia presented an annual growth of 6.8 per cent between 2010 and 2015. At SIAL, a delegation of 12 Colombian companies showed off their exotic fruits, spray dried instant coffee, organic pulverised panela, glazes and toppings.
