Chad-O-Chef to heat up this year’s Fire & Feast Meat Festival

The family-owned company, Chad-O-Chef will show exactly why they’re the leaders in the gas braai industry when they get things cooking at this year’s Fire & Feast Meat Festival presented by Crown National, heating up Joburg’s Ticketpro Dome from 8 to 10 June 2018.

As part of their milestone celebrations, Chad-O-Chef will be sponsoring Braaitology at Fire & Feast Meat Festival, arming all the chefs with their latest range of gas braais for meat sizzling perfection. A new feature to the exhibition, Braaitology is Fire & Feast’s outdoor cooking station which gives visitors the chance to watch some of South Africa’s best chefs roast, braai and grill various meats on Chad-O-Chef gas and hybrid braais, all of which can be sampled for a few BraaiBucks.

‘For the past 35 years, Chad-O-Chef have brought South Africans quality gas products ranging from our Stainless Steel gas braais & Extractor systems, to our popular Flueless gas fireplaces,’ says Liezel Andrews, a director of Chad-O-Chef. ‘The chefs at this year’s Fire & Feast Meat Festival will get a chance to try out our recently launched Sizzler Hybrid Braai which upgrades the Sizzler Gas Braai into a hybrid option, so the chefs can cook meat using gas and wood, or charcoal and gas.’

Andrews says they were ecstatic to be sponsoring this meat lovers’ festival for the second year, which complemented their vision of enlightening people on the art of cooking/braaiing meat.

‘We want to add to the offering of a flavoursome learning experience for visitors, allowing them to become educated and engaged in the preparation of meat products for a domestic environment,’ says Andrews. ‘We are looking forward to mingling with the traders as well because Fire & Feast really brings together like-minded companies, making joint ventures easier to initiate.’

The landscape of South African braais would have been completely different had Chad-O-Chef not stepped in to revolutionise the industry 35 years ago. While fitting gas grills in steak houses in the seventies, founder, Ronald Hollander, realised there was a market for domestic gas braais that were not only functional, but nice to look at as well. The speed, flame-grilled taste and economic benefits proved hot selling points and the brand quickly took off. Chad-O-Chef has been developing and expanding the business to meet the growing market needs ever since, with their expertise aiding them with the launch of a range of Flueless gas fireplaces in 2006, for indoor heating solutions. Commenting on current gas braai trends that festival goers can expect to see, Andrews says people want multi-functionality, prompting the introduction of the Sizzler Hybrid Braai range.

‘People are looking for the ability to prepare all meals, from steaks, chops and chickens to roasts and rotisseries… even stir-fry’s and pizzas. They want a truly all-in-one experience. Our latest hybrid range is the only gas-fuelled braai in southern Africa to incorporate an ember drawer design to accept a variety of fuels, opening up outdoor cooking options. This will give the Fire & Feast chefs, as in 2017 a real chance to push the culinary boundaries with incredible meat dishes.’

South Africa’s braai superhero – BraaiBoy – will also be in attendance at Braaitology, tongs in hand and apron well-fastened, to give his expert input on the Chad-O-Chef Sizzler Hybrid Braai. For almost nine years, this meat-loving maestro has enjoyed a braai every day, from Durban beach sides to Las Vegas hotel rooms. He’s earned Guinness World Record titles, competed in numerous international competitions and even braai’d underwater. And visitors to this year’s Braaitology will not only get to meet this carnivorous character but might even win a contest to braai with him as well.

‘We are so thrilled to welcome Chad-O-Chef to this year’s Fire & Feast Meat Festival,’ said Sandra Jardim, general manager: The Fire & Feast Meat Festival. ‘The event is about celebrating the South African meat industry while educating the public on the healthiest, tastiest meat-cooking solutions. Chad-O-Chef are experts in this arena and visitors are going to be truly overawed by the versatility and ease-of-use associated with the product, as well as the end result – deliciously braai’ed meals.’
