World Food Safety Day (#worldfoodsafetyday) is celebrated on 7 June to draw attention and inspire action to help prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks, contributing to food security, human health, economic prosperity, agriculture, market access, tourism and sustainable development.
Food Consulting Services’ vision is to provide Quality Assurance for all Food Consumed by the Public. Its mission is to provide food quality and food safety assurance to the Food Manufacturing, Hospitality and Retail industries by conducting Hygiene Survey Risk Assessments and Independent Third Party Laboratory Testing services, and in so doing, improve food quality and safety to the end consumer.

Safe to eat
As the organisation consults on hygiene and food safety to the food industry, we teach food safety to the cleaning steward all the way to top. In this way, we help create an ethos of food safety is everyone’s business.
Its laboratories role is to test foods, swabs and water for unwanted micro-organisms to make sure that foods and the environment are free from disease causing microorganisms. This helps to make sure that food is safe to eat.
Invisible germ
Food Consulting Services’ microbiology food testing lab boasts 32 SANAS accredited methods in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and employs the services of qualified scientists and technicians. It conducts a full range of Microbiological analyses for both human and animal consumption.
Food safety is regularly taken for granted because it is the invisible germ that causes harm. Unsafe food (containing harmful bacteria, viruses, parasites or chemical substances) causes more than 200 diseases.
Food Consulting Services has committed its efforts to help clients prevent such concerns from happening. This is highlighted in its vision: Quality Assurance for all Food Consumed by the Public.
#WorldFoodSafetyDay is an opportunity to strengthen these efforts to ensure that the food we eat is safe to consume. We all have a role in keeping it safe.
An estimated 600 million people in the world – almost one in 10 – fall ill after eating contaminated food and 420 000 die every year. Good hygiene practices in the food industry can help to reduce the emergence and spread of foodborne illness such as Listeriosis. Food safety education helps consumers to make informed and healthy choices and push for a safer food supply.
