Anderson Engineering is a recognised manufacturer of custom-designed stainless steel processing equipment. The anniversary marks 60 years of innovation, quality, outstanding workmanship and professionalism within the food and beverage and related industries.
The company was founded in 1958 to manufacture stainless processing equipment for the dairy industry. One of the first clients was Clover in Durban. ‘We’ve built a solid reputation of being a provider of world-class engineering solutions,’ exclaims owner and managing director Hans Coertse.
Within a few years it developed new and innovative solutions for dairy clients. ‘These firsts defined the company with passion, inculcating a culture that seeks new and better solutions in process manufacture,’ he notes. Full turnkey capability is regarded, in the industry, as being of the highest precision and quality even in extremely complex process manufacturing challenges. Anderson Engineering has the privilege of being involved with some of South Africa’s most high profile businesses and projects for more than 30 years. Its geographical footprint is shifting into Africa as long-standing clients continue to move and expand into various markets beyond South African borders.
Culture of innovation
Current owner and managing director, Hans Coertse, has been at the helm of the company for the last 22 years and has been an integral part of the culture of innovation and world-class engineering. His deep passion for finding better solutions for clients’ manufacturing challenges constantly stretches his team. The company aspires to deliver the best, custom solution for clients: delivering a diverse range of projects, on time and on budget with minimal disruption to production. In 2016, Anderson was crowned winner of Product Development, and runner up for Export Achievement, at the Sassda Columbus Stainless Steel Awards.
Long-term client partnerships
A key to the company’s success is the ability to build long-term relationships with clients. The business has delivered manufacturing solutions to many of South Africa’s largest food, beverage, chemical, dairy, cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufacturers. Many of these clients have worked with the company for decades. The business ascribes to the philosophy that it’s the way you treat your clients that makes the difference.
Anderson Engineering employs over 60 full time staff. The team comprises qualified engineers, draughtsman and technicians, with years of practical experience. They also have their own workshop personnel, consisting of machinists, boiler makers, coded welders, fitters and electricians, who are responsible for the fabrication of the equipment. They are proud to have continued an active apprenticeship scheme for the last 14 years and have successfully trained and qualified over 15 apprentices.
Positioned for a bright future
The core values of the company are respect, flexibility, positive attitude, honesty and commitment. This year especially, the company celebrates these values. Although the company is celebrating a milestone of 60 years, the face of the company is actually very young. ‘We have consciously tried to employ talented young professionals in the business, as well as train and nurture young people who show promise,’ Coertse enthuses. 2018 finds the company ready for the opportunities ahead and committed to outstanding client service and design excellence.
